New Google Search Profiles, Automatic AI Tagging, and Strict Policy Updates

G'day Reader,

Welcome back, creators! After a short hiatus, we are diving into a wave of platform updates that dropped over the last few weeks. From securing your official digital real estate on Google to understanding a major shift in safety policies, here is everything you need to know to stay ahead of the curve.

Own Your Spot on Google Search with New Search Profiles

Google has launched Search Profiles, a customisable, shareable hub that centralises your YouTube channels, social accounts, websites, and merchandise links into a single verified page. Fully completing your profile can trigger or enhance an official Knowledge Panel directly in Google search results, displaying your name, latest posts, and a profile link.

  • Who is eligible? To qualify, you must have a public account with at least 100,000 followers on a single platform like YouTube, Instagram, or X. If your largest following is on TikTok, you will need at least 300,000 followers.
  • How to apply: Head over to creators.google/profile to check your eligibility and start customizing your brand presence.

Streamlined AI Labels and New Auto-Detection Systems

YouTube is prioritising transparency around generative AI by moving disclosure labels into high-visibility areas. For long-form videos, photorealistic AI labels are moving from the description to a prominent spot directly below the video player. For Shorts, the label will appear as a direct overlay on the video itself.

  • System Auto-Detection: While creators must still manually declare realistic AI content, YouTube has begun using internal automated signals to detect photorealistic AI. If you forget to disclose it and the system catches it, a label will be applied automatically.
  • No Performance Penalties: YouTube has explicitly confirmed that these labels do not impact algorithmic recommendations or monetization eligibility. If a system incorrectly tags your video, you can manually update the status via YouTube Studio.

Strict June 2026 Creator Responsibility Policy Clarifications

YouTube has quietly rolled out a crucial update to its Creator Responsibility Policy. Under the newly tightened terms, using any platform features, tools, or internal services to generate or modify content intended to cause malicious harm to others is classified as a severe violation.

  • The Consequences: Severe or repeated violations will carry heavy penalties that extend well beyond standard content strikes. Creators found violating this policy risk losing monetization, being removed from the YouTube Partner Program, losing dedicated partner management, or getting locked out of specific platform tools. Always ensure your experimental or parody content remains clearly contextualized to protect your channel's standing.

A bunch of stories to touch on from the last 3-4 weeks:

  • Playlists Go Hollywood: We have another tease for Shows, a feature that transforms standard playlists into highly structured pages featuring numbered seasons and episodes to optimize binging on Connected TVs.
  • Prompt Your Home Feed: A new experimental feature in the U.S. allows users to enter custom text prompts—like "guided meditations under 10 minutes"—to generate a completely unique, auto-refreshing home feed chip.
  • Shopping Tags Axed in Community Posts: YouTube is winding down its community post product-tagging experiment. You can no longer tag products in new posts, and existing tags will completely disappear on July 3, 2026.
  • Affiliate Auto-Tagging Expands: On a brighter shopping note, the automated product-tagging feature for videos and Shorts is expanding to new global affiliate markets.
  • Premium Upgrades Hit Android: YouTube Premium members on Android are gaining Auto Speed (which intelligently accelerates slow speech or intro segments) and On-the-Go motion-activated background listening controls.
  • In-App Messaging Goes Global: After testing in 30 countries, direct in-app video sharing and real-time messaging icons are expanding widely across the United States for users aged 18 and older.
  • Mobile UI Test Sparking Backlash: A sporadic Android interface test removes text labels from action buttons and shifts view and like counts separate from the actual buttons, drawing early frustration from beta testers.
  • iOS Live Chat Bug: Creators note that a recent app update has caused a systemic bug on certain iOS devices, rendering the custom channel membership emote picker completely blank during live streams. This has now been resolved with the most recent app update.

With YouTube updating international membership pricing to reflect real-time foreign exchange updates, many creators are looking to tweak their custom pricing packages. If you plan to set custom pricing tiers for your incoming members, remember YouTube's Strict 12-Month Update Limit.

  1. Plan Long-Term: The moment you successfully apply and confirm a price adjustment to an individual membership tier, that specific tier is completely locked for exactly 12 months.
  2. Review the Data First: Use the new smart pricing recommendations built right into YouTube Studio to review personalized location and audience metrics before locking your prices.
  3. Protect Existing Members: Don't stress about alienating your current core community—price adjustments will only apply to new members who join after your modifications go live.

📺 Watch This Next:

At the beginning of the month, I dropped a video called "Who Actually Reviews Your YouTube Appeals? (The 2026 Truth)"

This video deep dives into YouTube's content moderation, particularly when it comes to demonatization and channel terminations. Many think it's 100% AI, but there are a lot of real people making the call based on strict guidelines put in place by YouTube's Trust and Safety team. There is, in fact, a human in the loop.

Find out why it seem's you're only getting AI triggered responses to appeals.

Creator ScoreCards

Ready to find out exactly why your channel's growth might be stalling? Stop guessing what the algorithm wants. Check out Creator ScoreCards to get a data-driven blueprint of your content's performance so you can optimize your channel like a business.

This tool was created by Roberto Blake for his own use, and he's now expanded it and made it available to all creators.

The theme across YouTube this month is undeniable: professionalization and structure. Whether it’s treating your playlists like premium streaming shows or cleaning up how your digital identity maps across Google Search, the platform is giving independent creators the exact same tools once reserved for multi-million dollar Hollywood studios. Take advantage of these updates early while the algorithmic real estate is still open!

Keep creating,
