Protect Your Face & Reach More Fans On YouTube |
|
|
G'day Reader,
Hello, Creators!
Welcome to another edition of Weekly YouTube Creator News. This week, we are looking at how YouTube is trying to fix "notification fatigue," some fun new AI tools for your Shorts, and a very important update on how to protect your face from AI clones.
Let's dive into the top stories you need to know to stay ahead of the game.

🔔 Stop the Mute: YouTube Tweaks Your Notifications
YouTube is expanding a test that changes how push notifications are sent to your subscribers. We’ve all been there: a viewer subscribes to "All" notifications but then gets overwhelmed and eventually turns off all notifications for the entire YouTube app. That hurts every creator.
To solve this, YouTube is testing a "strategic optimization" experiment. If a subscriber hasn't clicked on your notifications in a while, YouTube will stop sending them push notifications to avoid "notification fatigue." They can still see your videos in their Subscriptions feed, but they won't get a buzz on their phone. The goal is to keep viewers from hitting that "Mute All" button so you can still reach your most loyal, active fans.

✨ Animate Your Photos & Captions on Autopilot
Two new features just dropped to make your content more engaging with less effort:
- "Add Motion" for Shorts: You can now turn a single photo into an 8-second animated Short using AI. Just find the "Add Motion" tool under the sparkle icon in the Shorts create menu. It even handles the AI disclosure label for you automatically!
- Auto-Captions on Mute: YouTube is rolling out a feature that automatically turns on captions whenever a viewer mutes their device. This is huge for people watching in quiet places. As soon as they turn the sound back up, the captions disappear. It’s a small change that could lead to much higher retention for your videos.

🛡️ Guard Your Likeness: The AI Protection Pilot
AI-generated content is everywhere, and YouTube is taking a big step to protect your identity. A new pilot program is launching for creators in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) who are 18 or older. This tool allows you to detect and request the removal of AI-generated videos that use your face without permission.
To get started, you’ll need to complete a quick verification process in YouTube Studio. This is a major move toward giving creators peace of mind in an AI-driven world.

📝 Editor’s Choice: The Faster Way to Chapter Your Videos
Speaking of being efficient, I’ve been using a tool that has completely changed my workflow: TubeSpanner.
Specifically, their Notes tool is a game-changer for anyone who struggles with timestamps. Instead of scrubbing back and forth to find the exact second a topic starts, you can take notes in real-time while you watch your video. It automatically logs the timestamp as you type, and when you’re done, you can export the whole list as YouTube Chapters ready to paste into your description.
If you want to see exactly how it works (and how it can save you hours of work), check out this video: Create PERFECT Notes and Timestamps FAST with TubeSpanner!

💡 Quick Highlights: More News You Can Use
- 🇦🇲 YPP Armenia: The YouTube Partner Program is officially launching in Armenia this Spring, opening up monetization for thousands of new creators.
- 🤝 AI Matchmaking: YouTube is using new AI tech to "read" your content more deeply, helping to match creators with brands and sponsors more accurately than ever before.
- 📈 The Engagement Gap: New data shows that viewer engagement varies wildly based on video length—reminding us that "longer" isn't always "better" for your marketing plans.
- 🛠️ Bug Fix Alert: If you’ve noticed a weird "solid bar" cutting off the bottom of your videos in full-screen mode, don't worry—YouTube has confirmed it's a bug and a fix is currently underway.

🎬 Quick Tutorial: How to use "Add Motion" for Shorts
Want to try the new AI animation tool? Here is the 60-second workflow to turn a photo into a trending Short:

- Find the Magic: Tap the Sparkle Icon and select the "Add Motion" (or "Make Me Move") tool.
- Choose Your Move: Select a preset motion from the list.
- Pick Your Photo: Upload a clear, full-body image of yourself for the best AI results.
- Finish & Post: YouTube will generate an 8-second video. Add your music, and the AI disclosure label will be added automatically when you publish!

PS: Seriously, don’t sleep on that TubeSpanner Notes tool. It’s the closest thing to "magic" I’ve found for cutting down manual time stamping. If you missed the video, you can watch it here.
